S Superb. Absolutely fresh, like the envelope was just purchased and condition is flawless. Rare on a cover

VF+ Almost Superb, some very tiny imperfection just struck my eye which most never can figure out what I thought it was. Rarely used.

VF

Very Fine. Beautiful condition. Very small imperfectons, usually on the back, not the front. (ie; a tiny smudge on reverse.)

FVF

Fine Very Fine, A Clean attractive cover, excellent to look upon. Possibly the slightest paper wrinkle or partial smudged point. Quite showable in any exhibit.

F Fine, Quite collectable, possibly tiny edge foxing or tiny corner creases. The kind of cover one expects the Post Office to deliver these days.

Very Good, Has problems, like small tears, foxing, bent or missing corners, roughly opened etc. Still collectable

VG

Average, Lots of problems on the condition. Offered as it still has something to offer the collector, perhaps the low price or maybe as a spacefiller until a much better condition one comes along.
